DBS Corporate Banking isn’t IDEAL, it’s a PAIN

Update: New frustrating experience on 20 June 08!

DBS Corporate Banking (IDEAL) interface is a pain because:

1. It’s slow in Singapore. S-l-o-w as molasses. Citibank, UOB and HSBC Internet access is not, even in Paris.

2. It doesn’t have clear instructions to activate to the code gen device. Citibank has wonderfully clear instructions. HSBC in France doesn’t have it. UOB uses SMS.

3. DBS account management user interface is the worst I have seen. In my life. As a human being. As a ex-software designer.
‘OK’ buttons are renamed as ‘Open’ as and when they like it. Buttons are positioned in unexpected places.

5. I can only see my accounts, that’s it… SEE ONLY. I can’t transfer money to another account. In fact, I can’t do nuts except generating account reports. wow. wonderful.

6. Generating a report is slow. This is due to bad software and/or slow internal database access. Citibank, HSBC, OUB reporting is 50x faster.

So if you wish to experience the sensation of having your fingernails pulled out, please use DBS IDEAL.

Dear reader, if you have better experience with other banks, esp for business accounts, please leave me a comment ya? Thanks a mil.

Wes

PS: Citibank & HSBC are out coz initial deposit is a whopper load of cash.

Also am using Ideal and personal banking from DBS, far from what i’m used to in europe. Its a major pain. I am planning to move to another bank. To That bank that has the best internet banking. Any suggestions ?

    Hello Jansan,

For local Singapore banks, looks like UOB has the best user interface + speed. I am on HSBC for other accounts, internet experience is awesome.

Hi Wes, thanks for the tip. will definitely go away from DBS (personal and business) Got any tips which one has the most convenient (and cheap) solution for overseas payments. DBS is close to 35sgd for every Telegraphic Transfer.

jansan > according to my wife, DBS TT is one of the cheapest, it goes through an agent bank here in europe. but if you are using the same bank in europe and spore, it could even be cheaper.
