Apparently Intel is holding off Vista even after SP1. Doesn’t bode well for MS, sad.

Vista: Et tu Intel?
Karen sent me this link about JK Rowling’s Commencement Speech at Harvard. Very comforting words, especially on the part about failure.
Since the last episode with DBS IDEAL, I haven’t used it in a long while. Last night, I had no choice as I needed to check the account balance urgently. Here’s what happened:
3am to 3:25am Singapore time:
1. Used Firefox 3 to open https://newideal.dbs.com/, keyed in Org ID, User ID, PIN.
2. Pop up page appears, takes approx 10sec to load, keyed in code from security device.
3. Error page pops up, takes me back to Point 1. I tried it 3 times. Maybe it’s got problems with FF3.
4. I tried Safari 3, and pop up page says it’s ‘Loading……’. Waited 5mins. Doesn’t go beyond that.
5. 20min has passed, tried Firefox 3 again and site says it’s under maintenance.
3pm to 3:20pm Singapore time:
1. Used Firefox 3 to open https://newideal.dbs.com/, keyed in Org ID, User ID, PIN.
2. Pop up page appears, takes approx 10sec to load, keyed in code from security device.
3. Huzzah, I finally get into the accounts page. Clicked “Account Balance”, and it says “Loading….” for 5min. Doesn’t work.
4. I tried “Remittance” for fun and page says “No Remittance”. Ok, so it’s working.
5. Tried “Account Report”, and it says “Loading….” for 5min. Doesn’t work.
5pm to 5:01pm Singapore time:
1. I called +65 6222 2200 on our VOIP phone.
2. Keyed in 8digit code.
3. Keyed in 7digit PIN.
4. Selected balance enquiry 01 and got the account balance.
Thank you DBS for wasting 45min of my life that I can never get back.
Hey guys, if you are in Paris next week 27th June, please come for the opening of our very very very 1st photo installation in Paris. It’s held in the cellar complete with stone walls, etc. It’s not an exhibition so there are other elements that come into play besides the images. The installation will be there for the whole month of July so if you are in town, drop by and we can go for kopi or something after closing time. Here’s the invite for the opening. =)

Blue Toilets, Beano, etc.
We were in Glasgow for a friend’s birthday party for her 6 year old daughter. After that we went sightseeing in Glasgow city. Went in the Apple store on 1st day (curious la), saw genius bar folks teaching aunties how to use Macs. Nice.
Then saw Beano comic in a book store. GOODNESS, we were reading these in the school barber shop waiting for our turn for the haircut. They aren’t even in Singapore anymore, thought they were extinct or something. But still can’t afford it now. :-p
Then went to a mall, toilet was blue, tough luck for heroin addicts coz it makes it hard for them to find their veins under blue light.
Housing provided by the town council. Makes HDB look good man.

After the 4 day trip in Glasgow city at the end of May (where we visited macs, borders, whsmith, m&s, woolworths, and no museums. so shameful), we were pretty much swamped by work. Jodie’s been working hard on publicity stuff for church. I really like the poster she’s done, it’s for the Fete de la Musique, a yearly music festival held in France (and elsewhere in world). More info here. She also had to do something like 2 or 3 proposals for petite websites.
I am also preparing for images for a photo installation in July. Yes! It’s our very 1st photo installation in Paris after 3 years. I came up up with the images while Jodie came up with the idea for the installation. It’s our 3rd collaboration after 2 short films in Singapore. If any of you are in Paris, opening night is 27th June 2008 and it’s officially from 30 June to 31 July 2009. I’ll put up more info this week. =)
