Ad: ACS Clock tower at Barker Road

“Because when you love something,
every time a bit of it goes,
you lose a piece of yourself.”
From The Brave One

Hey folks,

I have a series of b&w images of the old ACS clock tower at Barker Road. I am thinking of making them available to old ACS boys and girls. Could you help me pass this information to ex-ACS people you are in contact with? Probably folks who were in ACS at Barker Road before 1999 will be interested these. Thanks for helping, I really appreciate it. The website link is http://www.memphiswest.com/clocktower

PDF (500k) is at http://www.memphiswest.com/acsclocktower.pdf

Updated Paris for Singaporeans page

Added a new part to the page:

9. This is for wedding photographers:
a. Hair+makeup stylist is unheard of. We also don’t know any hair/makeup stylist here, bring your own.
b. Best way to move around is via taxi when the bride is in a gown. You can book a taxi for the day. If you are adventurous, go for the metro.
c. Here are the locations that’ll look good for photography: Lourve, Hotel De Ville, Eiffel Tower, Seine River, Champ Elysees – Arc de Triomphe, Pont Des Artes, Tuileries Garden, Luxembourg Garden, Butte Charmont Garden, Sarcre Coeur Basilica on Montmartre, Versailles (30-45min out of Paris by train), Mont St. Michel (not in Paris, it’s in Normandy).
d. Some of the parks/gardens open at 8-9am and close by 9pm-ish, watch out for closing time.
e. Best time to come is from April (to about September. Daylight is approx from 7am+ to about 9pm+ in summer. There’s loads of light.
f. There’s lots of dog poop in some areas. Make sure the everybody (esp the bride) has the poop radar on.
g. You can rent cameras/lenses if something goes kaput.

An imaginary conversation between Picasso and his fan

This conversation was inspired by an actual exchange in a photography forum where the 1st response to a set of nice pictures was ‘GREAT LENS!’.

——————–

Fan: I just want to tell you how excited I’m to meet you. It’s really an honor.

Picasso: My pleasure.

Fan: I also want you to know that I liked your last artwork. What brush did you use?

Picasso: Sorry…? I don’t quite get you.

Fan: I mean, what brand was it? Was it an Adamo or erm… let me guess, Adalberto?

Picasso: I don’t see how this is relevant to my work.

Fan: Oh come now, don’t be selfish. If you don’t mind, I have a whole list of questions regarding your art:

1. What brand of your brush are you using?
2. What brush versions are you using?
3. Any special edition brushes? By the way, do you have the 1850 limited Arabian horse version? That’s my favorite for soft texture.
4. And the color, what brand of paint do you use?
5. What is the percentage of your mix?
6. What brand is your easel?
7. What is the height setting you use?
8. What is the brand of your canvas?
9. What is your canvas’ tilt angle?
10. Finally, what bag do you use for your painting kit?

Picasso walks out at ths point.
